Secret Places is the story of two couples of Nigerian descent, who decide to save their marriages by joining a Christian swinging group. The first couple, Moni and Ladi Badmus, are dealing with a faith and marriage crisis. Unhappy with his mundane, unblessed life, Ladi has an affair with a fellow teacher. Although Moni grew up in their home as the pastor’s kid, she finds it very hard to forgive her husband. Moni hides under the cloak of work and church responsibilities as she checks out of their marriage. On the fancier side of town, Ladi’s childhood friend, Debo, and his French-Canadian wife, Adele, are living an enviable life. Debo is an adored husband, father, and church deacon while Adele, a kindergarten teacher, is the perfect homemaker and mother. Convinced he is only helping his childhood friend Ladi save his marriage, Debo introduces him to a swinging group made up of their church members. For a while, the marriage intervention appears to be working for Ladi and Moni. However, things change. In this contemporary Christian novel, readers would see how love and faith erode with promises not kept and understand that no matter how far we run away from our problems, it is impossible to run from God’s presence.
