Babatunde Raji Fashola, SAN

Mr Babatunde Raji Fashola's performance as Governor of Lagos State from 2007 to 2015, and Minister of the Federal Government, from then till 2023, is described by many Nigerians as transformational. Internationally, TIME Magazine commended him for “the overhaul of Lagos infrastructure” and The Economist acknowledged him as “a rare good man” and a Governor “who does his job well.” In 2015, he received the Stephen J. Solarz Award of the International Crisis Group for his commitment to building a peaceful and vibrant society, and for working to improve social and economic conditions in Lagos, including his role in preventing the Ebola outbreak from becoming a crisis in Nigeria. In the previous year, he was listed as one of the 100 Top Global Thinkers for 2013 by a global personality assessment organisation, Lo Spazio della Politica (LSDP), based in Italy and Brussels. Before joining the public service as Chief of Staff to the Lagos State Governor whom he succeeded, and who is now Nigeria's President, he spent 14 years in private law practice and earned Nigeria's highest legal distinction as a Senior Advocate of Nigeria.
