Quramo Festival of Words (QFEST) is an annual non-profit multi-day literary art and culture festival in its seventh year. It attracts over 1000 attendees every year to participate in creative workshops, panel discussions, book chats and readings, literary competitions, and to watch stage plays, films, documentaries and live performances. Evolving from the Kuramo Conferences and the Quramo Writers Prize Unveiling, our past attendees have met and learned from inspiring personalities like Wole Soyinka, Kadaria Ahmed, Seffi Atta, Falz, Igoni Barrett, Kiki Mordi, Dike Chukwumerije, Eghosa Imasuen, Helon Habila, Innocent Ilo, Lala Akindoju, TJ Benson, Abubakar Adam Ibrahim, Karen Jennings, Oyinkan Braithwaite, Femi Odugbemi, Bikiya Graham-Douglas, Dare Olaitan, and more, and attendance is free.

Every edition has a theme; starting with the eponymous Festival of Words (2019), we’ve had Creativity Reset: The Future of Words (2020) and Transcendence: Words Defying (2021). Last year 2022, the theme was Africa Positive because it’s about time we start documenting, celebrating and reporting stories of our positive contribution to the global creative economy, to reshape the African identity. We had appearances from Bolanle Austen-Peters (of Terra Kulture), TaymiB (of Cool FM), Jola Ayeye and FK Abudu (of the I Said What I Said podcast), Tiwalola Ogunlesi, Seni Saraki, Wale Lawal, Remy Baggins, etc., with brand showcases from Puma, Anfani, Refine Jewelry, Toriara Naturals, etc.

This year, we present QFEST 2023: Connecting the Dots. The theme is born out of the reality that it’s easier to connect with the rest of the world from anywhere in Nigeria or Africa than it is to other Nigerian or African cities. It is time to initiate and strengthen communication, travel and distribution networks within our country and continent so that our products and content can sell and succeed without Western support. The festival is slated for Wednesday, 4 October to Sunday, 8 October 2023 at the Grand Ballroom of Eko Hotels & Suites, and will feature sessions around fintech, culinary exports, African art history and artificial intelligence.
